Violet Margaret Grubb was born on 7 November 1898. She was the daughter of Reverend Harry Percy Grubb and Margaret Adelaide Crichton-Stuart.
She graduated from Westfield College, London University, London, England, in 1920 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) She was an assistant lecturer in Botany at Westfield College between 1923 and 1925 at London, England. She graduated from Westfield College, London University, London, England, in 1925 with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) She was a lecturer between 1925 and 1930 at Hunan Province Univesrity, Hunan, China. She was a science teacher between 1925 and 1930 at China. She was a lecturer in Botany at Westfield College between 1931 and 1937 at London, England. She was Headmistress of Westonbirt School between 1937 and 1955 at Gloucestershire, England. She was President of the Association of Headmistresses of Boarding Schools between 1943 and 1945. She was Chairman of the Association of Independent and Direct Grant Schools between 1950 and 1953. She was Principal of Salisbury Training College between 1955 and 1962 at Sailsbury, Wiltshire, England. She was author of numerous articles in scientific journals. She was registered as a member of the Central Advisory Council for Education between 1956 and 1959 at England. She was registered as a member of the Advisory Council for the Science Museum between 1957 and 1964. She lived at The Moot Farm, Downton, Wiltshire, England.
