Narrative

Joseph Alfred was born 21st October 1885 as a son of Joseph Haughton and Margaret Emma Goodbody (his mother's grandfather was famous Colonel Lewis Mansergh Buchanan).

Based on the Irish Census they lived 32 Highfield Road, Rathgar, Dublin. He was Insurance Clerk. His brother George Bertram Haughton was a Bank official (he also commissioned and served with the Northumberland Fus.).

He was commissioned 20th April 1915 (London Gazette) and landed in France 11th October 1915 (Medal Index Card). He became entitled to 1915 Star trio for his service.

Following year he was promoted to the rank Lieutenant on 16th May 1916 (London Gazette)

He married with Ethel Helena Grubb on 14 September 1921. They had three (?) children:

1. 1922 E.H.Haughton (1922-2013)
2. 1923 Ethel Elizabeth Haughton (1923-1991)
3. Eleanor Margaret Haughton (1932-2005)

They lived 37 Ballytore Road, Rathfarnham Park, Dublin.

Joseph Alfred Haughton died 31 Jan 1953 - Dublin, Ireland. Burried Saint Fintan's Cemetery.
