A native of Victoria, Matthew Henry Scott, 68, of 4629 Vantreight, died Tuesday after only three years' retirement from his position as Western sales manager of Union Carbide Chemicals Crop. in San Francisco.

Born in Victoria, he left for San Francisco in 1919 after serving as a captain with the Canadian Field Artillery in the First World War.

Surviving are his widow Mildred; three brothers, William, Thomas and Dacre; two sisters, Gertrude and Mrs Constance Henderson, and nieces and nephews.
