Kristi Work, 53, beamed a sunny aura of faith, hope, and love, blessing her family and friends with a persistent, affirmative cheer. A petite, fun-loving fashionista with an earthly, motherly appeal, she radiated a beauty of warmth from within to without. Kristi never met a stranger and was completely self-less and generous. Great for the fun times, and best in the bad, she gave to life all the joy that she had.
Kristi was born May 10, 1955, in Chilhowie, Virginia to Leland McDowell Caulder and Mary Snelgrove Caulder.
Known as Ohwie to her grandchildren, Kristi was an avid reader, enjoyed bible studies and playing Bunco. She was a very social person and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She passed away April 21, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous ten year battle with breast cancer.
Kristi received a BA in Education from Newberry College, Newberry, South Carolina in 1977. She resided in San Antonio, Texas for 20 years, teaching at St Matthew's Methodist Day School for many years. During the last 10 years she lived in Richmond, Texas where from 2000-2006 she taught at Shady Oak Christian School.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Tim Work, of Richmond, Texas; children, Meredyth Richter of Pleasanton, Texas, Adam Work of Houston, Nathan Work of Richmond, and Spencer Work of Richmond; parents, Leland and Mary Caulder of Birmingham, Alabama; brother, Retired Lt. Col., Leland M. Caulder, Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Columbia, S.C.; and grandchildren, Makenzie Richter of Pleasanton, and Kyra and Neela Work of Houston.
A Memorial service for Kristi Caulder Work will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Joy Lutheran Church, 717 FM 359 in Richmond. Pastor Tim Christ will officiate the service. Visitation will be at Joy Lutheran Church, Friday, April 24, 2009 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with 7:30 PM being a time for sharing memories.
