Narrative

Mr. Charles H. Nietert
Among the many laymen on the district, perhaps none are more worthy of special notice than Mr. Charles H. Nietert of Walker, whose face graces this issue. He was born in Delaware county, Iowa, January 7, 1866, and has been a member of our church at Walker for seventeen years. Here he has served in almost every capacity and most faithfully served in almost every capacity and most faithfully and efficiently. A patient, persistant, good natured steward, a most difficult task, an energetic Sunday School Superintendent, Recording Secretary of the Quarterly Conference, for seventeen years connected with the choir where his fine voice has greatly blessed the services, he has made himself a blessed factor in all our church life. During the construction of the new church he gladly gave time and means to his full ability to give the undertaking its final success. He shares in christian work outside his church, being at present president of Grant Township Sunday School Association. In business, he is associated with Hon. H. J. Nietert, his brother, whose munificent gifts and unswerving loyalty to the church has done so much to give Methodism its place and power in Walker. Brother Nietert is most happily married, Mrs. Nietert being a woman of delightful personality, sharing cheerfully all toil and sacrifice with her husband to establish the cause of Christ.

Charles Nietert Killed in Montana

This community was greatly saddened last Saturday morning when word was received here Chas. H. Nietert, had been killed by lightning at his home in Floweree, Montana, the night previous.

The telegram just carried the bare statement of his death and the manner and as yet the relatives have not learned the full particulars. As soon as the word was received here Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Nietert commenced preparation to go on the long western trip. They left Cedar Rapids, Saturday at midnight and arrived in time for the funeral, which occurred Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Nietert accompanied by Miss Katherine Hart on the trip.

Chas. Nietert was formerly connected with the Exchange State Bank at this place for a number of years. In fact here is where he lived most of life. In 1910 he left here for Floweree Montanta, where he has been engaged in farming.

The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved relatives.
