Narrative

Born about 1738, she was the daughter of Col. Thomas Tenison of Finglas, Co. Dublin. Her mother was Alice Mosse, sister of the Irish physician Dr. Bartholomew Mosse (1712-1759).

Jane married the Rev. Richard Henry Roper about August of 1759, as his second wife. The Ropers had seven (possibly eight) children. She is most often referred to as "Mary" or "Mary Jane" in modern records, but in the parish records at Clones her name is given as "Jane Mary" over a period of eight years.
