Lewis William Richardson Grubb was born on 13 April 1898. He was the son of William Pike Grubb and Ethel Elizabeth Buchanan. He married Kathleen Alice Hewlett, daughter of Thomas Alcester Hewlett, on 11 July 1925. He died on 21 August 1973 at age 75.
He was educated at College La Chatelaine, Geneva, Romandy, Switzerland. He fought in the First World War, with the Royal Irish Rifles, Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force. He was an engineer and agent. He lived at Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.
