Narrative
Civil War Confederate Officer. With the war of 1861-1865 commenced, Bowles enlisted as a Corporal on July 24, 1861 into Company A, 6th Virginia Cavalry. He entered the officer ranks on April 20, 1862 with a promotion of 1st Lieutenant, and would be wounded in action three times during his service for country and state before the cessation of war in 1865.
