Brigade Major Alexander James Watkins Grubb was born on 25 July 1909.[2] He was the son of Colonel Alexander Henry Watkins Grubb and Frances Marie Cox.[1,2] He married, firstly, Margaret Dale, daughter of Richard Dale, on 21 February 1936.[2] He married, secondly, Lois Keitha Ritchie, daughter of Keith Rowland Ritchie, on 25 October 1973 at Uckfield, Sussex, England.[2,3] He died on 6 October 1990 at age 81 at Chester, Cheshire, England.[3]
He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.[1] He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.[1] He fought in the Second World War.[1] He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.[1] He gained the rank of General Staff Officer (G.S.O.) (2) to the Commander-in-Chief of Ceylon between 1942 and 1943.[1] He gained the rank of Brigade Major in 1943 in the Royal Artillery, 36th Indian Infantry Division.[1] He retired from the military in 1950.[1] He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cheshire in 1956.[1] He was General Commissioner of Income Tax at Cheshire, England.[1] He was Chairman of the Nantwich Division of the Conservative Association between 1959 and 1966.[2] He was the Conservative Party Board of Finance Representative in 1963.[1] He was Chairman of the Broxton Petty Sessions.[1] He was President of the Nantwich Division of the Conservative Association in 1966.[2] He was Chairman of the Cheshire Branch of the Magistrates' Association between 1970 and 1975.[1] He held the office of High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1972.[1] He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cheshire in 1972.[1] He lived at Bolling, Malpas, Cheshire, England.[2]
