The second son of John Charles and Catherine Grace Maynard, John Maynard was the husband of Mary Anne Elizabeth Wilson (1826-1913) of Potto Grange, near Northallerton, with whom he had several children.
John Maynard was born at Harlsey Hall around 1818. He passed away at his home Hob Green, about five miles north of Harrogate, near Ripley.
