Samuel Grubb (1750 – 1815) was known as the Squire of Clogheen. He inherited Grubb Mills and purchased the manor in Tipperary that became the home of the family for the next 150 years.
He chose the Grubb family motto "Bonnet et Assez Belle" ("As beautiful as she is good," or "She is good and beautiful enough").
