From the Montreal Gazette, Saturday August 19, 1944:

Commissioned
2nd Lt. George C. Grubb, Jr., 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Grubb, of 4840 Cedar Crescent who was recently commissioned with the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland. Completing his third year in civil engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., and graduating from the Cornell R.O.T.C., he took his basic training and officers' training in Maryland. He has been posted to duty in the United States. Born in San Jose, Calif., he was educated here and graduated from Westmount High School prior to entering Cornell. He enlisted in July, 1942, but was not called for service until May, 1943. His commission was granted on July 22 last.
