Narrative
The home of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Grubb on Butler avenue, Golden Gate, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on the evening of April 4th, when their daughter, Matilda Hardinge, became the wife of John T. Holdcroft of San Francisco. The drawing room had been converted into a veritable bower by loving hands, many potted plants and ferns adding to hte beauty of the decorations. The bride was tastefully attired in a gown of embroidered white, India mull, the trimming being real Irish lace worn by her mother at her own wedding. She also wore a veil of Limerick lace, with real orange blossoms in her hair. Her bouquet was of bride's roses and maiden hair fern, the gift of the bridegroom. She was attended by two of her sisters, the Misses Edith and Olive Grubb, who were also attired in white. Richard Grubb acted as the best man. Rev. James Hunter of the Presbyterian Church officiated, using the Episcopal form of service. The bride was given into the keeping of the groom by her father. After congratulations the party repaired to the dining room where a delicious supper was served. The table was prettily decorated with chains of daisies and bunches of cowslips. At 10 o'clock the bride and groom drove away amid the showers of rice. A number of handsome and useful presents were received by the bride. During the evening several flashlight photographs were taken of the bridal party and guests by a cousin of the bride, who is a successful amateur photographer of San Francisco.
